Our AGM in 2010 (fuller report):
Our AGM was held on 25th March 2010 in the Guildhall. We had drinks and a
fantastic finger buffet beforehand kindly supplied by Exeter House School.
We all had a great time as Richard Morgan, our President swiftly took us
through the formal side of the evening. Greg Read, our Chairman, reported
that unlike last year our finances are now in good shape thanks to the
tremendous efforts of those working in our shop. Amazingly over 90% of the
income was transferred to the Society from the Shop – another record year!
After the business meeting we heard news of some of the South Wilts
projects, with members of the How 2B friends course telling us what they had
learnt. Then we saw the very start of the exciting www.ourlivesonline.org
website on which our members can tell their stories. Finally the Shop ladies
gave us a wonderful fashion parade, with Betty Smith making a wonderful
blushing bride!
Our lives on line
This is the newest website to learn about what our members are doing. This
project is funded by the Learning Disability Development Fund, with support
from South Wilts Mencap. We began with Salisbury Tigers telling their story:
new stories added recently are of a drama project at Elizabeth House and the
current Motivarts project. Coming up are Cafe Alabare and the Shaw Trust at
Old Sarum. We also hope to bring you an interview by SISAG members with
Jemima Milton, lead Wiltshire Councillor on learning disability. The website
is designed for people with learning disabilities to tell their own stories.
