Daycare provision in Wiltshire:
Many people will know about the plans for a new facility to replace Sarum
Centre. The Wiltshire Council’s current plan is to relocate in the City
Centre, perhaps in the former magistrate’s admin offices in Milford Street,
which will need adaptation to make it suitable.
There has also been discussion with some of the local service providers as
to whether such a facility is needed – should we not rather build on the
existing services in the City rather than spend money on a new building,
especially at a time of financial stringency? The problem is that the money
available to lease or rent and adapt a new building will not be available to
enhance existing services.
This is an important discussion and there will be an opportunity for views
to be shared at the next Learning Disability Development Group (LDDG)
meeting on 14th July at 10.30 am at the Methodist Church in St Edmunds
Church Street. This is an open meeting for everyone concerned with Learning
Disability in South Wiltshire and we would urge everyone with an interest in
this topic to attend.
