Action on Elder Abuse: Action on Elder Abuse aims to prevent abuse of older people by raising awareness, encouraging education, promoting research and collecting and disseminating information.

Assistance Links:
The Independent Living Centre (ILC): With effect from 1st April 2003, ILC has taken over the 0843 111 0079 helpline number previously run by DIAL Wiltshire. ILC will provide information and advice about equipment and give free impartial and confidential information for the elderly, people with disabilities, their carers and professionals.
Samaritans: Samaritans is available 24 hours a day to provide confidential emotional support for people who are experiencing feeling of distress or despair.
Department of Work and Pensions (DWP): An alphabetical index of benefits and services available from the DWP.
Disability Alliance: Disability Alliance (DA) is regarded as the leading authority on social security benefits for disabled people and the website includes regularly updated informtion about benefits, tax credits, community care as well as disability related campaigns and parliamentary news.

Alabaré Christian Care Centres: Alabaré Christian Care Centres based in Salisbury, established in 1991, provide accommodation and day-care for over 90 people each day. Their aim is to help people transform their lives.
The Shaw Trust: The Shaw Trust, which is active in South Wiltshire, aims to provide employment openings for people with learning disabilities.
Ellingham Water Ski and Wakeboard Club: Ellingham Water Ski Club (member of British Disabled Water Ski Association BDWSA) are one of only three UK sites that actively encourage water skiing for the disabled. On the first Saturday of the month (May through to September) they run a ‘Beginners Day ‘ for the disabled. They try and cater for just about every type of physical and mental disability ranging from quadrapledure (total paralysis) through sight impairment to learning difficulties. They meet at Ellingham Lake just outside Ringwood. (See pictures under 8 June 2003 on Home Page of their site.)
