Breakaway:

We are the South Wilts Mencap Holidays and Leisure Group that organises holidays and outings for adults with a learning disability. We place special emphasis on those people who live at home or independently in the community. We work through a Committee including carers and service users to decide on a programme of holidays and outings to be offered each year.

On holidays, we aim to ensure that clients go on the holiday of their choice with individual care support. Holidays are led by an experienced a qualified care worker with a mix of paid and volunteer support workers. South Wilts Mencap sponsors the expenses for care support workers.

We also offer a number of outings to shows and tourist attractions each year, usually at a specially subsidised rate.

Clients will usually be expected to pay for their own holiday or outing but in case of need may apply to South Wilts Mencap for a grant to help with these costs.
