Hillcote:

Hillcote provides respite and day care accommodation for children with learning disabilities and associated needs from 8 to 18 years of age.

Hillcote works in partnership with families and relevant services to provide high standards of care in a flexible and efficient environment. Our approaches and attitudes are underpinned by the principles of Social Role Valorisation and Gentle Teaching. The house designed and furnished in a homely fashion with access to specialised equipment and play materials. We have a Snoozelen room, computer room, indoor play area with bouncy castle and an enclosed garden with play equipment.

Requests from families for all kinds of respite care are considered by a Family Services Support Panel, so that a variety of respite including family-based care, use of Hillcote and extra assistance at home can be considered together. The Panel meets bi-monthly and requests for respite care should be made to the Children’s Disability Team, Salisbury. A detailed assessment is made before the case is brought to the Panel for decision about the most suitable Respite resources.

There is a strong commitment to integration, community activity, teaching, outings for children and staff development. Parents, relatives and friends are encouraged to visit and play an active part in the care and development of their children.
