Riding for the Disabled, Wilton Group:
Riding brings joy, motivation, confidence and physical exercise into the lives of people with disabilities as well as contact with animals and is now widely recognised as a unique and beneficial therapy. Local people with a wide range of disabilities, including many with learning disabilities, use the Pembroke Centre of Riding for the Disabled in Wilton, where sessions take place between 10 and 3 Wednesday to Friday and Saturday mornings during term times. The premises are purpose built with indoor and outdoor arenas and riders may also go on short rides through woods and fields.
Riders are referred by a GP or come as pupils of special schools or clients of care centres. Many people attend the Centre as part of an organised programme of activities. The Centre can also be approached directly but all riders will need the approval of their medical practitioner.
