Betty Williams Awards

These awards are presented in memory of the late Betty Williams, who managed the Mencap Shop in Catherine Street in Salisbury for over twenty years. Presentations are made at the South Wilts Mencap AGM in April, by Betty Williams’ daughter.

AWARD 1 is for someone with a learning disability who made real progress in their personal ability or independence during the past year. The winner of the 2016 individual award was Emily Silman.

AWARD 2 is for an organisation that has “travelled that extra mile” to help people with learning disabilities to enjoy life more or develop their abilities. The winner of the organisation award for 2016 was The Roche Court Educational Trust at New Art Centre sculpture park and gallery.
