Healthy Me Courses

healthy-meHealthy Me is primarily about having fun! It is a free, 10 week child weight management programme for 7-11 year olds and their families.

At Healthy Me they educate families about nutrition and physical activity, helping them make small positive lifestyle changes to become healthier, and reach and maintain a healthy weight. They educate families enabling them to make small positive lifestyle changes and cover topics such as 5 a day, sugars vs. fats, carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals, the importance of hydration, shopping on a budget, making healthy packed lunches and many more. All of this is backed up with fun physical activity such as a supermarket sweep hunt fresh fruit and veg!

Families receive support over the 10 week programme and beyond through keeping in touch/ fun days where they can monitor progress and ensure they continue to make the positive changes they have made during the course.

The next course in Salisbury:- Five Rivers Health and Wellbeing Centre – Wednesdays 4.30pm – 6.00pm commences 26th April 2017

Learndirect – “Your Time”

learndirectIf you are aged between 16 and 24 years old and are Not in Employment Education or Training (NEET) or you are at risk of becoming NEET then this FREE six week programme can offer you the skills you need to get back on track to getting a job.

Learndirect is a national company and have contacts with many local businesses. Their courses are inclusive to young people with Special Educational Needs and/ or Disability (SEND) and they have experience of supporting young people with a learning disability and other additional needs. They offer small group sizes, average 8 per session. People can self refer or family members can contact Leardirect to self refer.

Part of the “Your Time” programme includes one week within a work placement  and job coaches are available to offer their support and skills to ensure success, or if needed, redirection and further support. The aim is to find sustained work for young people after the 6 weeks but if this is not achieved then more practical support, training and advice can be offered until the young person succeeds.

The next 6 week programmes commences on Tuesday 18 April in Salisbury and on Monday 22 May in Salisbury.
