Everybody Sing in Salisbury

Barnardo’s have contracted ‘Everybody Sing’ to provide singing sessions. The next Salisbury session’s are on Saturday 18 November and Saturday 9 December 2017, 2-4pm.

Everybody sing is a singing group delivered by professional vocal coaches for children and young people aged 8-25 years who have additional needs.

The aim of the session is to encourage participation and enjoyment of all types of music and movement and the emphasis will be on fun and confidence building. Props and percussion instruments will also be used.

Zone Club in Salisbury

Zone Club is a music and film-making club for young adults aged 16 and over with learning disabilities. Activities are participant-led and past sessions have seen the creation of a musical kung fu film and road movie about a car that runs on funk music! 

Zone Club takes place at Salisbury Arts Centre, Bedwin Street, SP1 3UT and usually happens on the last Saturday of every month from 10:00am – 2:30pm, and costs just £18 per person.

HANDi App

A free mobile app which provides expert advice to parents, carers and health care professionals on common childhood illnesses has launched by The Royal United Hospitals (RUH) Bath NHS Foundation Trust.

Developed and approved by Paediatric Consultants at the RUH and endorsed by local GPs, the HANDi app provides expert advice on how best to manage the six most common childhood illnesses; diarrhoea and vomiting, high temperature, chestiness, newborn problems and stomach pain.

Positive Parenting Program in Salisbury

Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) Parenting Group October/November 2017

These are seven week courses for families with children up to 12 years. They support parents and carers to make small changes that will have a positive long term impact on their child’s behaviour. Parents are introduced to a range of strategies to enhance parent-child relationships and manage children’s behaviour.

Although the groups are not specifically aimed at parents of children with special needs, many parents of children with additional needs and disabilities attend. Feedback from these parents has been positive, both the tools and strategies being very useful but also the support from other parents invaluable.

URC Angel Festival

Monday 23 October – Young People’s Concert

A concert by local young musicians, raising money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Doors open at 6.30pm to view angels on display. Concert starts at 7.30pm.

Friday 27 October – Drama Production by The Progress Players

A light-hearted evening of entertainment with an angel theme, entitled ‘This is Your Life’. Brought to you by the URC drama group, The Progress Players.

Swindon Dance – October holiday course

2 DAY HOLIDAY COURSE IN OCTOBER

Swindon Dance will be running a 2 day holiday course on Monday and Tuesday 23rd/24th October from 10.30am-3pm.

Open to all children (boys and girls) aged 7-12 years old who have learning/ cognitive disabilities, the two days will be filled with movement, games and dance creation – no previous dance experience is needed.

Cost: £25 for both day. Venue: Swindon Dance, Regent Circus, Swindon, SN1 1QF

October Events at Tesco, Southampton Road, Salisbury

October Halloween Creative Competition

Tesco are running a Halloween contest between 3rd October and 27th October. SWM members can create anything to do with Halloween maybe a picture or a decorated figure these can then be dropped off to the customer services desk at Tesco. With name and address and telephone number. These will then be judged and a prize sent to the winner.

Charity Collection Weekend – Diabetes and Heart Foundation

Secondly from Friday, 27 October until Sunday, 29 October Tesco are running a Halloween weekend where they will be collecting for diabetes and heart foundation if anyone would like to volunteer please email Sue.
