At South Wilts Mencap, we are seeking support with our PR, communications and marketing from an individual. It may be that you work in this field fulltime or are recently retired. We would like to extend the work we do with the website, social media and print to make our communications even more effective and need your consultancy advice. This a voluntary role to provide support South Wilts Mencap on an ad-hoc basis.
South Wilts Mencap 4&More Club are always looking for volunteers. The group has 30 members whose ages range from 18 to 30, all of whom have learning difficulties. The Club runs from 6pm till 8pm every first second and third Wednesday of the month the first and second are held at the Saint Michael’s Community Centre and the third week we either go to the Royal Oak Pub or the Kandi Lounge in Salisbury.
Experience of working with people with learning difficulties would be an advantage but not a necessity. The evenings are always relaxed and fun. We currently have a waiting list of new members wanting to attend however without any more volunteers we cannot accept any more members, please email Sue Bailey team leader for more details DBS will be carried out by SWM.
Take a look at the fantastic work the co-farmers do at River Bourne Community farm under the Guidance of Laura Tween. This is thanks to the community interest company, Able Hands Together, set up in 2016.
“Able Hands Together aims to teach adults with learning disabilities (Co-Farmers) to nurture livestock on a smallholding. Growing their own produce to cook from their success”
Laura Tween, LLB- Founder
