The Light at Salisbury Cathedral

The Light is a giant illuminated globe. It will hang right in the centre of the Spire Crossing of Salisbury Cathedral between the end of November 2018 until January 2019.

For Salisbury, the installation will depict the Star Of Bethlehem, focusing on the themes of Journeys, Darkness to Light and Mental Health in the overarching context of Memories.

This is the chance to see Salisbury Cathedral lit up like never before! A spectacular journey from darkness to light, the performance will be punctuated with films exploring what “light” means to people. There will be projections across giant screens around the Cathedral.

Hanging directly from the centre of the Cathedral will be the huge illuminated globe as the centrepiece.

On Wednesday 5th December to launch the art installation, we’ll be putting on an immersive performance of Songs Of The Light – an evening of live music, film and light performed by artist Richard McLester & over 150 local singers.

Supporting Grant

Three clients from Willow House, in Amesbury, enjoyed a special day trip to London last month.  After being let down at the last minute by their transport, South Wilts Mencap saved the day by funding a hired vehicle for them.  They enjoyed a fun-filled day of sight-seeing, street entertainment and delicious food.

“A massive thank you to Mencap for supporting us and ensuring that this day trip went ahead. My clients had a fantastic day and made some great memories, which is so important.”
