South Wilts Mencap Shop Volunteers

South Wilts Mencap is looking for Shop Volunteers

Are you looking to volunteer?

Why not turn your time into time that makes a difference?

Our shop in Salisbury has been trading for over 35 years and is vital to us continuing to provide a range of services to the Learning Disability community in South Wiltshire.  For every £1 spent in the shop, the charity gets 88 pence. So, if it’s because you want to improve your CV, meet new people, or put your creative skills to use, come along to our shop and see how you could be part of our amazing volunteer team.

The shop is open Monday to Saturday, 10am-4pm. Even one shift per week can make the difference and means we can continue to run social activities for our members – as well as the enjoyment, fulfilment and development of your own life.

Our volunteers have a great time working as a team and find their confidence increases, as well as improving on their customer service skills, retail experience and problem solving.  The three roles available are –

Front of shop – This will involve lots of customer contact, so a friendly sunny disposition is vital.  You will be using your customer service skills to full use helping with customers and replenishing stock.

Back of shop – This be sorting through all donations, largely clothes, preparing these for the shop and pricing in accordance with our pricing structure.

Bric a Brac specialists – We receive a vast range of these donations and need someone passionate over everything from a Ming vase to a casserole dish!  We would welcome a bric a brac specialist at any time throughout our opening hours.

We are looking for volunteers to either work 9:45am-1pm or 1pm-4:15pm. We can offer flexibility to accommodate willing volunteers.

So, pop into our shop at 16 Catherine Street, Salisbury and speak to Angela for more information and introduction to the shop. Alternatively, phone Angela on 01722 336894.
