Are you ready to sing, dance, and act in a supportive and welcoming community? The South Wilts Mencap Musical Theatre Group is open to people of all ages with learning disabilities – everyone is welcome!
We love performing! Each year, we put on two amazing shows – a big summer production and a festive Christmas performance. In 2024, we wowed audiences with The Wizard of Oz at Salisbury Guildhall and delighted everyone with our Christmas Concert at Salisbury Methodist Church.
Our group brings people together to share their creativity, build confidence, and make lasting friendships. Every rehearsal is filled with laughter, teamwork, and the joy of learning new skills — whether it’s singing in harmony, acting out a favourite scene, or perfecting a dance routine.
Being part of the Musical Theatre Group is about more than performing — it’s about belonging to a supportive community where everyone shines.
Each week is full of fun and creativity! Our sessions include:
And of course, we always finish with tea, biscuits, and a friendly chat – the perfect way to relax and catch up with friends.
Joining is simple and welcoming. You can use the contact form below or email our Service Coordinator, Sarah, directly at sarah@southwiltsmencap.org.uk. She’ll be happy to answer your questions, explain how the group works, and help you feel confident about coming along for the first time.
We meet every Tuesday at 10:00 am – 12:00 noon at Salisbury Methodist Church, St Edmund’s Church Street, Salisbury, SP1 1EF
Each session costs just £5 per person, payable on the day. This small contribution helps us cover the cost of the venue, refreshments, and resources for our activities. Tea, biscuits, and a friendly chat are always included!
No — you don’t need to book ahead. You’re welcome to simply turn up on the day. If it’s your first time, we recommend using the form below or emailing Sarah so we can look out for you, introduce you to the group, and make sure you feel at home right away.
Just wear comfortable clothes you can move in and bring your enthusiasm! We provide everything you’ll need for the activities, from scripts and props to music and games. If you’d like, you can also bring a carer, family member, or friend to share the fun.
The Musical Theatre Group is open to people of all ages with learning disabilities. You don’t need any previous experience — our sessions are about having fun, building confidence, and enjoying the magic of performing together. Carers and family members are welcome too, and everyone is encouraged to take part in whatever way feels right for them.
