Small Charities Week – 22-29 June 2026

A national celebration of the big impact small charities have in communities across the UK.
This Small Charity Week (22–29 June), South Wilts Mencap is proud to be part of a national celebration of the vital role small charities play in communities across the UK.
This year’s campaign, Small charities. Big impact., shines a light on the difference small charities make every day, supporting people, strengthening communities and creating change where it matters most.
In Salisbury and South Wiltshire, small charities like ours play a crucial role in supporting mental health, empowering young people, helping to create connection, opportunity and support for those who need it most. South Wilts Mencap is working hard to support, enable and inspire our learning disabled community to live as independently as possible, have the same opportunities to form relationships and have fun, and be valued just the same as everyone else.
Small charities are where change really happens. They are rooted in their communities, responding quickly to local needs and providing support that fits real people and real places.
At a time when many communities are facing increasing pressure, their role has never been more important.
Small charities are part of the fabric of our communities. Every day we see the difference that local, trusted support can make to people’s lives. Small Charity Week is a chance to recognise that impact and to make sure the voices of small charities, and the communities we support, are seen and heard.
A spokesperson for Small Charity Week said:
“Small charities may be small in size, but they are BIG in impact.
They are creating change in communities every day, often quietly and without recognition. Small Charity Week is a moment to celebrate that impact and to stand behind the organisations making it happen.”
Small Charity Week is a moment to recognise and back the work of small charities across the UK.
Because when small charities thrive, communities thrive. And when communities thrive, society is stronger.
